hi guys,

gonna explain this the best way i can, i have recently done a reinstal of winxp
now, before i did this i ran cpuz, which showed my core clock at somewhere around 2.3-2.4 <cant remember which>

after the reinstall, i ran it again and it currently shows as 1.3 core clock
also windows xp no longer shows my processor as AMD Althlon 3000+ in the system tab in control panel, anyone know what could be causing this?

i recently installed a new vid card , and 2 gigs of ram, and my system dosnt seem to be running any faster at all, if at all

is this simply a symptom of my system bieng under low load? because if i recall correctly it was under low load during the last run of cpuz :/

MOBO FIC AU31
Processor Amd Athlon 3000+ barton core
Vid card Radeon 9550
Ram 2 gigs kingston ddr 333 mhz

what does it say on bootup?  if it doesnt read as a 3000+ when it posts, the fsb or multiplier was changed.  head into the bios and set them to default or at least check them and let us know what you find.

Sounds like the bios got reset.  A simple reinstall of XP wouldn't change the 3000+ speed.  Perhaps the bios battery is going dead, or maybe you did reset it?

You'd have to look at your bios settings to be sure it set correctly.  I'm guessing the barton's settings are:  13 x 166 = 2.16 GHz

So if you had it at 2.3/2.4 ghz you had a slight OC on it.
