I would like to know weather I should get an 8800gtx or gt. I will be playing C&C3, quake 4, Bioshock, all the half life 2s, and Crysis. I will be playing these games at 1440 x 900 and want to enable as many pretty features in these games as possible. I plan on over-clocking the cards as far as stably possible.

If you read the reviews I see great overclocking claims on the gt due to the aftermarket cooler.
Its all about the eye candy this time!

Well the GTX is obviously the better card, but the GT should suffice at that res, you have to decide if you want to spend the extra for a GTX. I wouldn't personally, but that's not my decision. The GTX is an EVGA though, it looks really nice.

I would get a 8800GTS (G92) 512MB instead.

Faster than the GT, nearly as fast as the GTX except at really high resolution.

Quieter than the GT, and not much more expensive.

Less power hungry than the GTX.

^ Agree. I'd like to add that SLI'd GTS knocks out the GTX.

The GTX simply isn't worth the extra 50% extra you'll be paying. I would get the 8800GTS 512 or, (if your mobo supports it) SLI'd 9600GT's.

The GTS 512 can be found for about $250 on newegg and is the best price/performance card right now.

You can get a 512 GTS for $199 if you look around. I see them pop up on dealnews all the time.

Spec'ing new PC build for 05/08. Current plan: Q6600, 8800GTS 512mb, CM690.
More to come.

I would get 1 GT for the time being and then add another one in SLI when you have the cash. If your board can't do SLI then go with the 8800 GTX.

Out of those 2 cards. I'd go with the GT. It's new tech, the 8800GTX is old power hungry tech. That MSI card is a NICE card, well worth it and OC'ed to boot. If you can afford a 8800GTS 512MB, get that. Otherwise stick with the GT. I don't invest money in old technology. Why do you think the 8800GTX's are so cheap now? They want to get rid of them.
