DVD/CD-ROM not recognizing or reading any disc

Hello,
My Samsung R522 Windows Vista will not read or recognize any disc I insert. The last time it ran a disc was two weeks ago and I have no idea what could have caused the problem. I ran some kind of a Windows diagnostic and it found nothing to be wrong with the driver. I'm not sure how to get into the settings for the driver, and that's the only other thing I could see wrong (setting being changed to. . . something). I've never had this problem before, and since nothing was diagnosed, am not sure what to do.
Any suggestions, help, or similar experiences?

A windows update within last two weeks may have changed your driver, and you could try to roll back the driver in device manager, to the previous version.
