System randomly shuts down

Rule out the PSU first. Sounds like a classic lack of power scenario. My roommate was getting this when he upgraded his P4 machine with a new 8800gt video card. He got a corsair 550vx (or something like that) and it solved the problem. I'd try putting the 6800gt back in and see if the shut downs stop if you can't get your hands on a good PSU.

I have a Thermaltake 850 on the way from newegg now.

Went with tis as opposed to the toughpower model just for the modular cable management. Once I get this installed and running, I will report back. I will probably reseat the heatsink/fan as well now that I am getting the overheating klaxon when I am in WoW.

Update -

The power seems to have been the issue. After installing the 850 power supply, my ystem has been running non-stop for over 2 days now. Also, I pulled the fan, cleaned and reapplied the thermal past and reseated the fan. I have not gotten any heat warnings either. A lesson remembered. I completely forgot to check the power rating of all my parts to ensure my current supply could handle it.
