I got the EVGA NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb on Friday and ever since then I've tried countless drivers. They either give me a black screen on both xp/vista after the booting logo or if I am able to get in to xp or vista, once I open the NVIDIA control panel or do anything I get weird lines on the screen which ends up freezing. I remember me trying the lastest driver on NVIDIA's site, the one on evgas site and many more. I'm force to use vga standard mode =/, can anyone help?

My System Specs are:
Videocard: EVGA NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
Mainboard: biostar tforce 550 with lastest bios
Memory: 1GB
Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2
PSU: 430w
Monitor: SAMSUNG SyncMaster 740B

Can you detail the brand/spec of your PSU?

Most definitely your power supply. I believe you are supposed to have at least 26A on the 12v rail according to Nvidia for that card. If you want to buy a cheap power supply that will get the job done and then some I would recommend a Corsair HX520. ZZF has it the cheapest with free shipping and $15 MIR.

I second both affirmations:

  • Your PSU is aated at only 18A on the 12V rail and EVGA requires 26.
  • Corsair 520HX is a great choice if you like modular cabling.
