Building a new system. Reading around, some people comment that if you have your DVD/CD drives on the SATA while doing a lot of multitasking / P2P, it will hurt you while burning / copying discs because the Hard Drives and CD/DVD drives share the contrroller.

Any truth to this? Is it better to just put the CD/DVD drives on the IDE controller?

No it is not true. Go with SATA.

Not at all. Go with sata.

Another reason to consider SATA is that the cable is smaller in thickness, and will promote your system with better airflow; especially if you are using those old flat IDE ribbons.
