one core working prime95 faster than the other?

Do the threads on prime 95 correspond to cores on the CPU? ie: 2 threads running, 1 for each core of a C2D?

I've noticed while running prime95 that one thread will work faster than the other - is this normal?

Thanks.

yes

its because windows constantly changes the core affinity for background programs which can then hinder the performance of that core very slightly... the longest spread i've seen on my q9550 (after 24 hours) was about a minute

I'm currently running prime and after 2 hours 1 core 9 tests behind the rest.. it happens. I have been using my pc the whole time and the load has to go somewhere which means prime slows down to let me do what I am doing.
