Hey everyone!
I have a problem with my external Maxtor 500GB hard drive.
Today I plugged it into my PC but used a different power supply than the one packaged with the hard drive.
I know, I'm an idiot.

I guessed that it would work as usual... but it didn't. :(
Now whenever I plug the ACTUAL power supply/cable into the hard drive, it just flashes very breifly.
It does this very slowly, over and over again.

So I've damaged the hard drive by using a different power supply?
Is there anyway to recover my data from it?

Oh, and is there a IDE hard drive inside the case?
Can I therefore take the case off and replace it with a different enclosure.

Thanks for the help! :D

*bump*
Someone please help...

Can I just open the case and take the Hard Drive out, therefore use it as a normal one?
I've just found out that I have a warranty still on it. But I will lose all my data if I send it back.
Should I send it back?

Thanks :)
