Any suggestions for a CPU cooler? Intel i7 920 on GIGA GA-EX58-EXTREME

Just looking for a nice cooler for a mild overclock on the Intel i7 920 with the GIGABYTE GA-EX58-EXTREME Mobo. I am aiming to get around 3.8Ghz. The case, Antec 900, is a bit on the small side so I think the Cooler Master V8 is out of the question...Too bad because, from my research, the V8 out performs the TRUE and the Thermalright Ultra 120.

Any ideas?

Here is my config just FYI

This will be my first overclock.

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-EX58-EXTREME ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor

Memory: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel

GPU: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4870 100259-1GL Video Card

PSU: Antec TPQ-850 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Retail

Optical: LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner with LightScribe

Card Reader: VANTEC UGT-CR905 58-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader/Writer

Any tips would be much appreciated,

Sean

I'm not so sure about that Roadrunner, I believe there are conversion kits out there for 775 to 1366 which would work on some heatsinks. But as far as the backplate is concerned yeah it won't work.

roadrunner i thought 1 guy is bad enough already and comes another one that is bad on research and lack of knowledge!

anyway this is what you need

http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=923674

cant find it on newegg and on this website is pre order anyway so i guess its not out yet.but on reviews so far that is the best cooler out there.

the cooler master 212 is nowhere near the TRUE and it cannot handle a 3.8Ghz OC of the 920i.

i swear this "lag" between 2 different people in a thread posting will get one of us killed by the other!LOL
December 3, 2008 12:43:22 AM

yeah when toms will allow people to actually EDIT and DELETE their thread and reply?

and apparantly even if 920i OC to 4Ghz and compare to 965i it will still be slower then 965i is that true?
December 3, 2008 12:45:09 AM

965i has a unlocked multi and a few extra bios options but 4.0 vs 4.0 one aint any faster then the other.
December 3, 2008 12:47:52 AM

http://techreport.com/articles.x/15967

look at the charts.and i mean same speed as 965i.

do you know how i can use quick edit in my firefox?because when i click it the box is not showing to let me type.

here is what i mean
December 3, 2008 6:48:27 PM

i got a thermalright true black and the 1366 mounting bracket.
December 3, 2008 11:33:09 PM

I ended up ordering the Cooler Master V8 and the bracket for 1366. Good reviews and it is supposed to be right up there with the TRUE setups...even getting better temps in most cases. Hope I run cool, quiet and fast...and hope this beast fits in my Antec 900 once I remove the side fan.

Thanks for all the input. I will post up a half assed noob review right here.
