So I just installed the 174.74 beta drivers for my 8800GT (without uninstalling my old ones). I boot up unreal tournament 3 and my frames were at ~20 fps. I quickly uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, and reinstalled the same 174.74 drivers again fresh. Now I'm back up to 60fps.

Now my question is what would cause my drivers to impact my performance that much?
