It's one of the single best upgrade's you could do to a computer these days.

Benched my 99 dollar 32gb Patriot SSD tonight. I'm sure the intel's and OCZ's put out better numbers but for 99 dollars you really can't go wrong.

Nice, but unless people find new ways to limit Vista HDD footprint, the 32GB version might be too small for that OS. No idea about Win7.

Nice job choosing an ancient scsi drive. That isn't exactly a fair comparison. Here's a more modern Cheetah 15k.6 (5.6ms access time btw)

That's one gen old - you can now get a 600GB Cheetah 15k.7 which is even faster, but I couldn't find any reviews. Note that even the Cheetah 15k.7 is cheaper per GB than the 32GB $99 SSD.

can you post up a write performance test for the SSD drive please?

thats normally worst part of the cheaper ssd drives.

some as low as 10-15MB/sec

Yes, no one disagrees that SSD's are not hugely better than HDD's for read and access time. They take the crown hands down. But as others are asking about, where are the write speeds. From what I hear, most people become disappointed with them as they start using them day to day.
After you have used the drive for a month or so, why don't you post back and let us know how you like it? Most posts I have ever seen people brag about these drives at first, then later even though they keep posting about other things, stop talking about their SSD drive.
