I want to change my motherboard so hopefully I can get my q6600 stable over 2.7ghz. I havent been keeping up to date with the new motherboards. It needs to be ddr2 and SLI. is there anything better coming that I should wait for? I've been looking at the xfx 780i.

Seems like a good choice if you must have SLI and DDR2. Just pick the cheapest reference board. I know XFX, eVGA, ECS, etc. all use the same board so no worries.

Good luck,

The eVGA and XFX boards are exactly the same board. The only difference between the boards is the warranty. eVGA offers a limited lifetime warranty and XFX offers a limited 2 year warranty. Don't even think about getting an ECS board! An ECS board is the crap of all crappy boards! Stay away from them at all cost!

I have had very little if any issues. The new driver that came out a few day's ago for 8/9 series cards really helped out a ton with Crysis. I really like my set up. Honestly probably wouldnt do it different.

Theres been problems with the 7** series? what kind of problems? At the moment im using a 680i striker Extreme, and the only reason im changing it is because there was supposed to a problem with them overcolocking quads, which I think is happening to me.

There are problems with all motherboards!

My 780i has served me well and I would buy and recommend again. If I didnt want SLI though I would get a P35.

Do you REALLY need SLI? Cause I'd definately go x48 (Asus Rampage is my current favourite)... and Rampage supports DDR2 or DDR3, which is a pretty neat option...

I'd wait until mid-June and just pickup the g280, which should be even better than 2 8800s in SLI...

I agree... I would probably get a X48 if I didnt want SLI and I would get a nice ATI card that way you have the option to get another in the future.

Well I've already got 2 8800gt's in SLI, thats why I wanted an SLI board. I was thinking of getting a 9900 when they come out (is that what you ment by g280?) so I could go for the Rampage and it even better if it supports DDR2 & DDR3.
