Q9300 2.5ghz with FSB 1333 and 6mb cache 45nm

VS

Q6700 2.66ghz with FSB 1066 and 2 x4mb cache 65nm

Now the question is which preforms better or is it better to go with the cheaper one.
I realize that 166mhz isn't much but does the FSB or cache make one better? and do these warrant the 40-70 dollar increase over the E6600.

The Mobo Options:

ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775
MSI P7N Diamond LGA 775
EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775

Well performance should be on a pair, favouring the Q6700 at SSE, SSE2 and SSE3 but the Q9300 at SS4 instructions. However the Q6700 is now cheaper thanks to the latest price cut and will be extremely easy to overclock to 1333mhz giving you 3.3ghz, this of course would require a aftermarket cooler and thermal paste just to be safe so cost wise this option should be on a pair with the Q9300 but offering better performance.

clock for clock the q9300 is faster but can you clock the q9300 to 3.6ghz plus?

you need a good mobo and you do - its more tricky to tune a 450-500fsb mobo then a 400fsb and you need more cooling for the nb
