Tight budget but want a PSU that can be used to overclock my E8400 and also support my 8800GT vid card. Here is what Im looking at:

Antec Earthwatts 430W Power Supply ATX12V V2.0 20/24PIN Active PFC 80PLUS 80MM Fan $58
Only 430 watts.. is this enough because its an energy efficient unit? Its stats are surprisingly good and I heard another person say they used this on their gaming rig. "The Earthwatts has 34 Amps on the 12V rails" is that good?

OR

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS ATX12V / EPS12V 500W Power Supply 100 - 240 V $50
[i]Is this reliable enough of a PSU? 500w enough? New egg says I need only 438W.. and 2 sata connectors worries me.]

Suggestions?

Of the two options you listed I'd go with the Antec 430. Should be plenty of power for what you listed.
I saw a different price on NCIX $72.89. If that's the price you're looking at maybe the Corsair 450VX $70 after $15 mail in rebate is another good option.
I think the OCZ would be an OK choice if your budget is really tight. You can get around the 2 Sata connector problem using some molex to sata adapaters.
It's not so pretty but works good and they're cheap.

new egg exagerate the power usage quite alot, but the 8800gt is quite a drinker.

would go with the OCZ unit. altough i would want to run your unit on less than 500 but ideally 600w to allow for future upgrade and the fact that it will raely peak.

Thank you for the input. I just placed my order with the OCZ before I read your reply tho ; )

I think the OCZ should do the work though. I kinda wish I went with the earthwatts cause it sounds very reliable but is it enough power?

You are not "settling" with the OCZ unit. I have the 600 watt, and it is excellent. See the tiered listing: http://www.tomswiki.com/page/Tiere [...] ngs?t=anon

Note that the StealthExtreme is a less featured version of the GameExtreme.

There are some pretty glowing reviews of the StealthExtreme power supplies--so be confident in your decision...

THANK YOU SO MUCH HUSKY! I was really thinking about calling NCIX and trying to change my order (which isnt easy once placed). Thank you for taking the time to find those reviews too!
