Check inControl Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager to see if it shows an error with a driver - there'll be a yellow mark beside it in the listing. You might find a Registry fix for Upper and Lower Filter settings could work - post back if Device Manager seems OK and I'll post more details. Can you hear the disk spinning when you put it in?

It's possible that AutoRun/AutoPlay is disabled for your CD drive. When you have a CD in the drive can you view its contents in Explorer?
