8800GTS G92 vs ATI 3870

First off,Im not starting a flame war...I was in BestBuy today,and one of the Geek Squad nerds was trying to sell a video card to a couple.He was showing them the VisionTek ATI 3870 512mb card,and was saying how it got a 5.9 score in Vista and that it was the fastest card.Right beside it was the BFG 8800GT and the GTS 512mb cards.The GT was on sale for $200,the GTS was $250(the ATI card is $270).I intervened and told the couple that the GT was as fast,and sometimes faster than the 3870,and that the GTS card was totally faster than the ATI.The Geek Squad associate got really pissed telling me that I was wrong,and even went as far as to say that the 3870 was faster than the BFG 9800 GTX(for $350)on the bottom shelf!!!I just wanted to pass this little encounter on to everyone here,it just goes to show how little these Geek Squad people know.

He knows very well. He was just angry because you messed up his chance to swindle the couple into paying more money. Vista score is worthless as benchmark, but people don't know better.

Wait $270 bucks??? I got mine for $214.99. Best buy is a totally ripping off people, but to continue the flame war i think its all about the chip set then the cards really. I want to see a 8800 ultra or a 3870x2 on a $50 buck board and fine out if it could out preform a 8800gt or a 3870 on a $250 board. Am i wrong for saying this if so tell me, so i can stop telling lies to my non computer friends who ask my help in their rigs.

Unfortunately people go into a store and think they are speaking to experts. Like when my wife took our then (1998) 2month old Compaq desktop back to the store because of the repeated crashes and they found out what was wrong there was to many programs installed on the hard drive! LOL!
