Am buying a new computer and wonder if anyone can tell me if Vista uses more ram than XP?
Thanks.

In general, yes. It will make the most of what it's given, however, will put it to better use than XP, and does a better job of freeing it up for other tasks.

Generally, 2gig of RAM should be considered minimum for a smooth running, and gaming capable, system.

Vista 32 will only use 3Gb of RAM max. Vista 64 will allow you to max out any board you are likely to use. I use Vista 64 with 4Gb and find it a happy place on the price performance curve. My machine at work is Vista 32 with 2Gb and that will alow me to run a VM copy of XP and a good number of applications without much complaint.
