I'm a noob at the PSU thing.

What I have is an HP a6245n desktop.  It's running a Q6600 with 4 gigs of ram.

I recently bought a BFG 8600gts for a decent price.  I don't play games on this computer so I bought it to help with HD video playback and editing.

My HP has a Lite-on PSU with 19a on the single 12v rail.  I realize that this is not enough power although everything runs fine at the moment.

Here's my motherboard.

I'm looking at this power supply unit.

Will this PSU work with my A6245n?

Thanks for any insight.

Thanks for the advice.  That Corsair PSU is available from the same site as the Antec and is $74.99 Cdn after mail in rebate.

Just my 2 cents - check the physical size of the new PSU and compare with the current PSU before you buy. I ended up buying a StealthXStream 600W for an HP (m7640n) because my first choices (Silencer 610W and Corsair 520HX) were too big to fit in that case.

Thanks for the advice.  I measured and the new PSU is the same physical size of the oem version.

I guess you're lucky :)

Go for it. The 550VX is a high quality product and gives you plenty of room for upgrades.
