I need to buy a new portable 320 GB HDD (USB powered) and have a budget of Rs. 4000/-. My purpose would be to have backup of my data (v. imp. data!) and most of the time the HDD would be in my back-pack moving around with me in buses/trains etc. So they need to be sturdy. No software requirement, no fancy stuff needed.. only good perfomance and better quality.
My options:
1. Seagate Free Go: Rs. 4000/ 5 Yrs Warranty/ Not sure if it's sturdy enough
2. Transcend Storejet: Rs. 3600/ 2 Yrs/ Sturdy but not sure about service centre problem as I would always be mobile.
3. Maxtor: Rs. 3700/ 3 Yrs / ??
4. WD My Passport: Rs. 3800/ 3 Yrs/ ??
I am more inclined towards Seagate (Maxtor?), only doubt is sturdiness of the product. On the other hand, no love with any particular brand.
Please give your suggestions with reasons. Thanks in advance. Urgent replies needed.
