I have just bought a 8800 GTS and it will not fit into my computer. The case is big enough its just the SATA cable gets in the way. Also there is a small thin bar that gets in the way (By where the card connects to the monitor cable) and its pushing into it. I think this is because the card takes the room of two cards. I need to upgrade my motherboard anyway but was not planning to do it just yet. Here is my motherboard http://tw.giga-byte.com/Products/M [...] uctID=2381 . This is a big problem because my copy of Windows XP is OEM so I will have to buy a new one. Also I want to use intel CPUs now not AMD so i will have to buy a new CPU to fit in to the motherboard. :(

I see your problem. thats an incredibly small board and I really would just upgrade now if i was you. As for XP, I had the same issue with vista and didn't have a problem. If you end up having to speak to someone, just tell them that your last motherboard broke and that this is the replacement and that your copy of XP is only installed on one machine.

Yeah. When I had it built I told the guy to give me the large version of the motherboard so I could have more room for upgrades. Don't know why he gave me the small one. I read the licence for OEM and you have to buy the same motherboard or the manufacturers equivalent. Do you think they would still give me a key for it?

Well I went from an old 570i Asus board to my 680i and I didn't even have to speak to anyone over the phone they just issued me a new serial number after the automated lady asked if I had it installed on more than one machine. XP may be different but even if you speak to someone, just tell them that your old motherboard died and apparently this works from what I've read on other forums. Can't promise anything but the worst comes to the worst and you just have to bite the dust and buy a new license.

Yeah I have phoned up before for a new key after XP stopped working and on the phone the automated person asks if you have replaced the motherboard. If I said no would they know when I put the key in? If it comes to having to buy a licence I will get vista for DX10. I won't buy OEM and make that mistake again.

You could try getting a 90Degree SATA cable. My mobo came with them but it might get the cable around the back of your card.

I don't think there is any room at all :(. Also why is the thin bar thing blocking my card I thought all cases have this. Its the metal thing that seperates all of the slots at the back. It is part of the case though not the motherboard. The card is pushing up against it because it takes the room of two slots. Is it normal for it to be pushing against it?

I know the bars between my slots are a little bowed. I just pushed them a little bit when i installed my original cards so that the 2 slot cooler vent sits flush. I think its normal in some cases. If its an issue CUT IT OFF :D

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Although its a cheap case it might be better to get a good one. I have no fans in it. I have never needed any as my system never gets too hot. But with the 8800 GTS I have bought I think it will. Stupid windows licence is annoying or I would be able to get new good motherboard, quad CPU and a good case.

At the minimum you will want an Exhaust Fan. The top Blow hole fans help but not totally needed. Intake fans help a small about but are more or less for cooling hard drives. Just get a nice exhaust fan and you are good.
