LOL, I meant physically...due to large heatsinks, are they thin enough to allow 4 modules to be put one next to the other?

Reaper X you can't run 4 sticks. I had the 2x2gb version and exchanged it for the regular Reaper HPC because the heatpipes on the Reaper X will not allow for installation in slots that are next to each other. I now run 8GB and it fits just fine. Reaper X is a stupid design because it limits you to 2 sticks of ram. I guess for those that are overclocking to high levels, they are more likely to only run 2 sticks and they would be great for that. I was more concerned with having 8GB.

I think 4gigs is plenty, I just wanted to get enough ram that I wouldn't need to add more later when DDR2 gets real expensive. Not to mention if they continue to make it once the supplies dwindle. I am trying to squeeze a few years out of my current setup.

Yes, I thinkin always in that direction...
I`now buying a new config, will not do SLI or Crossfire, so I decided to wait for P45 chipset (cause of 1600FSB and 1200Mhz mem support)...
+one new 1066 wolfdale
+9600GT
+and will have 2gigs at first, maybe buy another 4gigs in a month or two...

I think that it isn`t so much difference in speed when you are talking about memory, but in capacity... 6Gigs would be great for few years, so I would have to worry cause my system isn`t DDR3 based, right?
I would be able to place some monster Quad with 1600bus, and some mean graphic card that are yet to come in future....?

If you are going with ddr2, you might buy 4GB now. The supplies on ddr2 are starting to bottomed out and I am seeing some models starting to disappear all together. It would be best to get 4GB of matching ram now, because the ram you buy today may not be around in another 6 months. Usually all the high end ram slowly fades away after a new ddr version is released.

ok..thanks...good point...

I`ve deciced for 4*1Gb of 1150Mhz, but I`m seeing some guys having troubles reaching this speeds with 4Gb, and they are mentioning some -tfc - settings??
Would I have similar problems with x38-ds4?

Its does seem to be more difficult to overclock to higher levels with all four slots filled. I've been having some issues with my motherboard not related to ram that has made overclocking very difficult, but I have been able to run mine at the rated 1066mhz with no problems. I am pretty sure I can push it further when I finally get my board replaced.
