I need help choosing what to order. If someone could give me a list of what to get that would be great. Others can comment on it too. I have $1700 saved up to spend! I need to get a monitor, mouse, keyboard and of course the rig! (including shipping, so just estimate the value of this and then use the money i have left)

Thanks in advance.

P.S. idk if it helps but i'll be playing mainly FPS.

just playing games or what else? would you over clock? more details!!
April 2, 2008 5:04:48 AM

Haha sorry. Basically this is my gaming computer. I will not be over clocking, never have so idk how hard it is or if it is price/time worthy. (I do know what it is tho, just never looked into it) I have a IBM 32 Mb graphics, 256 mb ram (Upgraded :)  HAHAH. Can wait to get a sweet rig, the difference will be insane. I will be doing my school work on this computer too, but i'm buying it to play games. I also would like it to accommodate the Razer Barracuda HP-1 (do not include these headphones in the price) unless you guys suggest something else... Hope that helps.

I dont know much about razer stuff. But if your the budget is going to go down that much, (202), then you wont be able to get that video card. I would recomend this one,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Just keep the rest of the build the same, and replace the video card with that one. Any other questions?
April 2, 2008 11:11:47 PM

So I didn't have a sound card before, and you were suggesting the onboard? Ok here is what i'm thinking, drop to 160 GB cuz thats all i really need,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Then keep the rest, which I can afford. Again do you think I would be able to build it on my own?
April 2, 2008 11:22:36 PM

Well im not suggesting on board, i just didnt include it in the price, (sorry about that). Do you play competive gaming? like cal or somthing like that? if you do then defentaly get a soundcard.

If all you really need is 320 gb thats cool then.

Building the system itself is really simple, there are alot of place online with guides on how to do it. What kind of experiance do you have with computers? have you ever upgraded parts ext.
April 2, 2008 11:38:47 PM

Just upgraded RAM, and swapped out a GPU. Like you said there are probablly a great online guide, or multiple ones at that. No not competitively just love gaming online. Over summer i have a beast connection online 5mps and dominate, even did well with my IBM laptop I have now with 32 mb gpu, and 256 megs ram (upgraded :)  )! I know computers very well in terms of fixing problems and general hardware.
April 3, 2008 2:52:42 AM

Well then you shouldnt have a problem !
If i wouldnt spend THAT much money on a headset/sound card, but its your money man.

and thats at zipzoomfly.com
you can get a cheaper mouse and keyboard to make it cheaper but that is a pretty evened out system with no bottleneck and a kick ars monitor
April 3, 2008 5:11:10 AM

The only recommendation I have is the LG L227WTG 22 inch monitor. I have owned 5 LCDs and this one is by far the best I've ever seen and owned. I just picked one up and I love it. I bought through BestBuy but it was on sale last week 50.00 off plus I had another 20.00 coupon so I picked it up for 269.00. If you look around you might be able to find it cheaper then BB's price right now. I promise you won't be disappointed.
You'll have a hard time finding a monitor with better specs.
10,000:1 contrast ratio and a 2ms response time make it a sweet gaming and Photoshop monitor.
