Ok I bought a XTX 8600GT video card from newegg.com and very disappointed because you can't adjust the fan speed it always run at full (Called XTX support). I am going to RMA this card and get another one, I am looking for something decent but I would like to keep it below 100 (after rebate maybe)? But I really need a quite fan on the video card, I am not a hardcore gamer so its gonna be good to stay below 100 range. Thanks alot all

I wouldn't rma the card. Instead, look for a leftover heatsink off an old motherboard or video card. I replaced my noisy fan unit with a relatively small fanless heatsink, and it works fine. Most are removable by pinching the 2 tabs on the backside of the fan. If the card works on your games this may save you some time. No extra heatsink; check online or at your local vender. They usually cost around $5. For your gt, use thermal paste when installing the new heatsink. The other option is an rpm adjuster if you have one. Zalman makes the fanmate series, and these come standard with some of their large heatsinks.

Are you telling me this piece of **** doesn't come with a heatsink?

Riva won't control a fan that uses a 2-pin header.

I'd look at the $110 shipped AR evga 8800GS. It is very quiet and will outperform the 8600GT by well over 100%. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Problem is, as soon as you go under $100, your performance drops in half. The 8600GTS, HD2600XT, and 8600GT are half the performance for over half the cost.

But There are passive 8600GT/HD2600XT cards if you want to go cheap and silent. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$77 AR shipped with a game. But GDDR2 and slow.

faster for a bit more money.

I still say go $10 over budget and get a real card though. (evga 8800GS)

Thanks I gues I will look into the 8800GS, as long as its quite and wonder how the 8800GS performance it not in one of the picklist under the VGA chart.

Btw, since I am planning to RMA this card I do have an issue in WC3 Gameplaye > Mouse scroll (Sensitivity) no matter how I adjust it, it remains the same anyone know if there's a way to fix this?
