Question about heatsinks.

I bought a E6600 from a guy on the Hard forum. I asked if it came with a HSF, and he said he'd include the one that came with his new Q9550. A couple of questions. First, the HSF isn't very tall, is there a quick way to tell if its the one that came with the Q9550. Second, the 6600 is a 65W CPU, and the Q9550 is a 95W. Because the cooler is for a higher rated CPU, I should be good to use it right? I don't like the idea of push pins, so while I'm out today I might just buy an after market one anyways. I'd like confirmation however...

The stock HSF that came with my Q9450 was redesigned, much smaller than the stock HSF that came with my e6600. I installed my stock Q9450 HSF on a socket 775 Pentium 4 3.0GHz. chip. The guy games and has not brought it back. That was this past spring.
