Broken raid 0 - advice needed

hi everyone, i have a defective western digital mybook pro 1TB.
basically, i plugged in the wrong power cord and it stopped working.

so.
i took out both of the 500gb hard drives that the box contained and plugged them into an external box - i then found out that one of the disks isn't spinning/booting up.
The other one seems to be working fine but of course i cant access any data on it as the drives had the files split up between them- well thats what i think anyway
is it possible to recover all the data from the one disk that works , then swap the casing with the defective drive and recover the data from that drive too? then somehow get the images to work together?
i have no idea.
has anyone any suggestions?

oh, by the way, when the hard drives were working, they showed up in my computer as ONE 999gb drive.
