Ok I am a little confused. I just bought a E2200 and put it in to a MSI Platinum (P35). Im building this for a friend. First start up was no problem, I got into the bios to do the usual things to get the system ready to install. In the Cell menu the default clock was set at 2.93ghz. 266x11.. Its kinda confusing since usually I have no control over the multiplyer but I can change it from x6 all the way to x11... (i dont remember if it was x12 or not)

what the heck is going on? is the E2200 suppose to do this? I know its bus is at 800 and when I try to set it to its real clock speed it wont boot windows...

dont get me wrong.. im not complaining.. im just confused... i cant get this kinda clock from my q6600... wish i could..

so whats up with the multiplyer?

11x is stock for the e2200. Multi can be lowered, as with most Core2's, but not raised above stock. In your case 11. Your overclock is due to the raised FSB. Stock is 200x11= 2200. You could probably push it higher if you have good cooling.

You should easily be able to clock your Q6600 to 3GHz. As long as you have some good ram\cooling.

The reason for that is speed step. MrMr is correct, it should be 200x11=2200 or 2.2ghz.

So when speed step is enabled, it can change the multi to 200x6=1.8ghz to save energy and reduce heat.

You should state if you were told that this built system was going to be OC'd. Seemed it was OC'd without you knowing.
