High Defination Setop Recorders. Need some recomendations.
Iam looking to get a HD recoder. But i have NO idea what is a good I
only have componet connections. I would like to record in full 1080
Resolution 1920 by 1080.
It would be nice if i could upgrade to Hard disc of the recorder as
well. And also be able to connect it to my PC via atleast USb 2.0 if
possible so i can remove the recorded video and reencode it to
something smaller

I have had good results with an LG Electronics LST-3410A. Check
avsforum.com for many posts on this unit. Some folks have had problems. It
does have Firewire output for communicating with d-vhs vcrs; some people
have had luck connecting with their computer.

I don't think the LG will work for him in Australia. I think they use
DVB-T (correct me if I'm wrong). The LG does ATSC and clear QAM. And
I doubt the Gemstar guide would work there, although you could still
record by channel and time. If you can even get a time signal that
the LG can recognize. Otherwise it's an excellent choice if you can
get one that works.
