I am looking at memory for a Intel DX38BT Motherboard. The choices I am looking at are: CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit or the OCZ Dual Channel 2048MB PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz memory. Are both these EEP, I just don't know much about memory. I am building my first system!
Thanks for your reply! I thought DDR2 1200 was the fastest. Is DDR3 1333 not faster? Can you please give me some examples. I am learning and one thing I do not understand is memory.
Thanks
We are at the same point we were a few years ago, when ddr2 first came out. ddr2 initially didn't give much of a performance boost over ddr. It will take a while before the timings improve to the point that ddr3 starts to make a big difference. I personally would go with a ddr2 1066 which is fast and you can get 4gb of high end ram for what your paying for that ddr3 ram. Out of the 2 you have selected I would probably get the OCZ because it has a rebate. Timings are just barely better on the corsair but no likely enough to make any real difference. 9.9.9.24 vs. 9.9.9.26. The first three numbers are more important than the last and those are identical. Corsair and OCZ are both top manufacturers of ram so either company you can't go wrong.
