ok so recently i put together a new rig;
780i sli
9800GX2
4gb OCZ reaper 1066
and a Q9450

BUT.....i live in the Toronto area and in Ontario the availability of the Q9450 has yet to be seen. So i decided to pick up a cheap E1200 just to get me passed. i was running XP Pro and in 3dmark 06 i scored a little over 12k, however i recently received a copy of Vista Ultimate 64bit and though "Hey i can actually use and see all my ram now". fought with it for about 6 hours. wouldn't install with all 4gb installed kept getting BSOD. then would crash going into windows with it at 1066 had to underclock it to 667, got SP1 in and now its rock solid @ 3.2 and my ram is at 1150 5-5-5-15. i installed all the newest driver and 3dmark again and it scored 10940.....i was like WTF. so no laughing at my cheap hold over CPU but is this normal to see. BTW i am running the card at 750/2220/1900. any advice or i just have to wait for the Q9450?

That is quite low, especially considering the 9800gx2. The E1200 would hold it back, but I can't imagine how it'd do so by this much. I got slightly above 15k on 3dmark06 for g92 8800gts@780, on Vista 64bit, Q6600@4ghz, 8gb 800mhz ram. The oced quad core would be an advantage, but it's still a 8800gts against 9800gx2. There's definately something wrong. You might as well wait for the Q9450 to arrive and see if it's any better though.

its the processor, if the processor score in 3dmark goes up a little bit, it can add thousands to final score, processor is biggest part of it as it affects the score the most

yeah the CPU gets like 4.3k in it. its nasty i was figuring that it was the problem so i really wasn't worried. but that doesnt explain the 2k drop form XP to vista64.

its 2.4 ish cpu score and i think i found my problem. i think its a HUGE bottleneck. when i Mark the card at stock it runs just under 12k. when i run it at 750/2220/1900 i get just over 10k that poor little CPU has no idea what the hell is happening to it.
