Need Help With Board!!!

Need HElp!!! I have the gigabyte x48-DQ6 board, 2 sticks of patriot ddr2 1066 memory, e8400 cpu, and a visiontek radeon HD 3870. Problem is I can't get it to come on exactly. Here is what I mean. I am running a BFG 650w power supply, which has 2 light blue 12w connectors. On my old board there was only room for 1. on this new board there is room for 2 (4pin connected to another 4 pin), but when I connect them the board lights flash and that's all. If I don't connect the 4 pin 12w at all and just connect the ATX power to the board it will come on and fans will come on, and I can hear the hard drive start to spin, but nothing happens with my video card or keyboard (usb) the power supply has two setting on the rear 115 and 230. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong so I can get this thing up and running. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

it was a bad board. took it back and got another and it works fine now
