Im going to overclock my e8400 from 3.0--3.8GHz and still try keeping my stock Intel air cooler and my corsair 650W TX PSU. Is this possibly???? Or will my PC have a power/heat overload. (Also my motherboard is an Asus P5N-D 750I).

I wouldn't recommend overclocking any cpu with the stock cooler. Stock coolers are designed to cool the cpu running at it's stock speed.

Your best to get an after market cooler. I have my e8400 running at 4GHz with a tuniq tower on an Asus rampage formula.

Buy a zigmatek s1283 if you want to oc it that high without breaking the bank.

True about the stock HS&F. I OC'ed a 6850 dual core and when it hit the 3.6 barrier the north branch heat was keeping it from getting higher. So my though would be to add aftermarket coolers to both. ( didn't look up your board by the way so it might entail more ...??? )

I would caution you one thing, I cannot get my E8400 perfectly stable even at 3.6Ghz on my XFX 780i and it's not temps for either the NB or Core that I'm aware of. Besides that, the above mentioned xigmatek cooler, or the Cooler Master Hyper TX2 would be very nice coolers, I'm using the TX2 at the moment and never go above 60 even when I've tried my clocks at 3.6 and 3.825.

You know I don't know if that's true. I've seen my friends O/C their e8400 to 4.0GHz+. And thanks for the cooler information.

my e8400 is running at 4GHz on mu Asus Rampage formula, totally stable and top stemps of 56 with my Tuniq tower.

Remember not all chips are equal, I reckon if I was brave enough I could get atleast 4.2 but I am not gonna risk it. One e8400 could reach 4GHz on air whilst another might only get to 3.7GHz
