I have a choice between the evga 8800 gt and a msi 8800 GTS, the 8800 GTS is only $7 more than the 8800 GT. Which one would be a better choice? I was thinking the 8800 GTS, but I'd like some other opinions of people who owned either/or both brands.

Formerly tech savvy, now noob in learning once again. Spec'ing new PC build for 05/08. Current plan: Q6600, 8800GTS 512mb, CM690. More to come.
Yea, for $7, thats a no brainer, defanately get the GTS. I have owned 2 MSI cards (8600GTS and 8800GT) and both have performed well. While researching the two cards, the general feeling I got on the net is that MSI is pretty new to the game, but have shown a nack for delivering some of the best prices without sacrificing quality.
GTS... the brand decision comes down to warranty and in evga's case, the step-up program. Quality hasn't been an issue for me and I've owned evga, bfg, msi, gigabyte, ati brand, sapphire, and his. In any event, both cards are great choices and will perform very similarly. You'll just get a little more bang out of the GTS for $7 more (along with a much more competent cooler).

MSI has been around since 1986. They're not really new to the game...
