Hey,

I have an Intel P4 2.8ghz Prescott and noticed that my CPU temp in the Bios is 78C. I was concerned so I checked what Everest and Speedfan would say. Everest says my CPU temp is 60C and Speedfan 61C. Which one is accurate? I would think the Bios reading is inaccurate because wouldn't 78C greatly affect my performance...if not fry my chip?

Well... I think Everest and Speedfan are quiet accurate. In my rig, the bios shows me that the temp @ idle is 45. In Everest it shows me 32. I'm quiet sure that Everest is showing the "real" temp.

I would generally trust the BIOS reading. But 78C sounds much too high...
