Well, I think I've finally narrowed it down. Won't go the 8800GTS route due to trying to stay w/in budget. However, have some final choices I'm looking at for 8800GT models, and interested on thoughts on these.

EVGA 512-P3-N802-AR512-P3-N802-AR (anyone have trouble w/rebates from them? here's it been a bit of an issue)

ECS N8800GT-512MX+ (I know the passive cooler is huge, but I really do like this one)

MSI NX8800GT-512M OC

ASUS EN8800GT/G/HTDP/512M/A (bonus, comes w/a game)

Palit XNE/880TSXT352

Gigabyte GV-NX88T512HPV1 (although I've heard some problems for some folks)

BFG BFGE88512GTOCE

PNY VCG88512GXPB (slowest of the bunch, though)

I like the top two the best from what I've seen, but wanted to get some insight from folks who have been doing this longer than I have. No matter, it'll be the best video card I've ever had.

My system is a Gateway GT5636E (http://support.gateway.com/s/Cases/3507131R/3507131Riv.shtml)
quad core, 4gb ram, dvd/rw... modem I'm going to take out of the case since I don't use it.

When i bought mine I bought MSI OC. At the time it was the cheapest one which was one of the two reasons I went with it the other was the special cooler that made it quieter than the rest.

I have BFG 8800GT OC 512... I have no complains about the board. For Nvidia cards i normally used BFG or EVGA.

I don't know the others...

This factory oced g92 8800gts cost $230, and $199.99 after rebate. It might give 8800gt a run for best bang for the buck.
