GA-P35-DS3L compatible with PCI Express x16 2.0?

Last response: in Motherboards

Can anyone clear this up for me? I just bought the GA-P35-DS3L motherboard under the impression that if I want to upgrade to a 9000 series card or better, I will need PCI Express x16 2.0, and this motherboard doesn't have the 2.0 version. I later read that this may not be the case, that you don't necessarily need the 2.0 version.. Will I be able to upgrade to newer video cards and keep this motherboard? Or am I limited by the PCI Express x16 slot as I previously assumed?

The PCIexpress V2.0 cards should be backward-compatible and work in PCIexpress V1 slots. It's unlikely that the next generation of video cards that use PCIexpress V2 will need more bandwidth than they already have in a V1 x16 slot.

Yes, you can use any PCIe express currently made on that board.
No worries!

I love you all.

Seriously though, thank you. This cheered me up a lot. I look forward to future video card upgrades.. :)
