I'm picking up an 8800GT... the only question is which brand? I am not in good health and consequently don't want to get into the risk of overclocking. Here's what I found:

The title really asks the question, and I'm curious what you think?

Thanks!

I like the msi with the 2 slot cooler. 8800 gt's run hot so it's a good addition and worth the extra $15. Evga does have a better rep for quality along with a lifetime warrenty. But personally I'd go with the msi.

No, I would consider the MSI over the Evga based on the different cooling system. I had a 8800gt (which i returned for the GTS 512 based on the better cooling/performance) and I did not like the stock cooling. That is just my opinion, I would suggest doing more research but that is what I would do.

Yeah I think the MSI is a good value because of its cooler. But remember that EVGA offers a lifetime warranty. I can't remember what MSI offers. I believe its 3 or 5 years. But I'm sure theres a good chance before then you'll get a new card.

EVGA also offers a dual-slot cooler you can add yourself for $40. The EVGA warranty (which covers overclocking and removal of the HSF) and Step-Up program is worth it IMO.

Hmm, I just found the MSI GTS card that turns out to be $20 more than the GT. Worth it, right?

Debatable, the big reason everyone usually cites for going to the GTS is the better cooler, the performance is only marginally better. If your willing to part with the $20, its a better card, but not necessarily alot better.

Forgot to mention, I own the MSI card, was running crysis on all high at 1680x1050 last night to see how my case cooling was doing, card never went over 52C.

I'm grabbing a monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1200. Is that a factor in this decision at all?
