i just got a hp laptop it has a dvd+-/rw drive i only have dvd-r disks how do i burn avi movies to play on my tv what specific software do i need and what specific dvds do i need to do this. because im not having any luck doing it with what came on my laptop. please HELP

There are many software programs out there and opinions vary. I use, and like
Xilisoft Video Converter.

I use Nero, and DVD Shrink.
