Storage for my next build seeking advice/tips

I'll be building a new rig come July mebbe Sept. Right now I'm planning to do this:

2X Western Digital RE3 WD5002ABYS-01B1B0 500GB 7200 RPM " Internal Hard Drive - OEM probably in raid-1

OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX120G 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) and an Icydock.

Now I've built mebbe 7 or 8 rigs but never used SSD drives before. I've also never used any raid setup other than 1 or 0. I'm looking for any tips, recommendations guidance on how to optimally set up the SSD drive for my operating system and most used programs and the mirrored disks for everything else. Any other storage suggestions are also welcome.

Thanks in advance....

More about storage build seeking advice tips
  1. WD Green drives use less power and generally make excellent download/backup disks.
A backup is worth more than a RAID1, try using an automated backup system if possible, instead of RAID1.
You can use RAID0 to combine multiple SSDs into one fast and larger system disk.
