I have a RAID 1 mirror setup that is working fine. I have identical SATA drives plugged in on SATA channels 1 and 2 on my motherboard.

My question is about my motherboard: it has an option to enable "SATA as Primary IDE" using SATA ports 5 and 6.

Considering this, would it be better to hook up my up the RAID 1 using SATA ports 5 and 6 rather than 1 and 2?

e.g.... would this boost performance or give me any added functionality? If so, I will do it, but if not, I will leave well enough alone. For what it's worth, I have no ATA drives whatsoever.

Thanks for your help.

Most mb's have two sata controllers on on the northbridge and a second to support more ports. Sometimes on of the controllers is faster than the other, you will have to research the board or test tit yourself to find out.
