I want a new graphics card and I want to know if i can use pci express here are my specs
compaq SR1710NX
Motherboard: Amberine M
AMD sempron 3400+
100 gb hd
if i can use pci-e what version 16x,1x,etc.

Now the bad news. The 250W power supply in it is a joke, compared to what modern video cards need. The CPU would also be a bottleneck for any serious card. I'm sure the hard disk is also from the dark ages before perpendicular recording. TBH I don't think I'd spend any money upgrading that PC. Save your cash until you have $800 or so, then build a new PC.

Make sure to buy a quality PSU for the new card! I've seen too many computers fail because people skimp out on the PSU. Get something along the lines of an Antec Earthwatts 380w.
