I dont know how well that card would do on recently old titles either. That is not any sort of card for gaming at all (i cant speak for the 2400, I dont know) but the 8400gs is not a gaming card.

what kind of graphics settings? Even with AA, off I can't possibley imagine that card is better than a 7900gs or a 6800GT. (Ive run COD4 on both cards, on my old PC, I wanted to keep it up a little bit so my friends can play cod4 via lan at my apartment) I could get playable frames at 1024x768 with medium settings(mix of low and normal, as there is no medium or high). Although COD4 seems to be an exception to the rule as far as graphics quality/performance are concerned.

he bought a cheap acer pc with screen for 600-700 euro.

and he specially bought it for cod4. it is not the best pc :p but it worked.
i play cod4 on 8600GT all high (very high) 1024 res and 40-90 fps. when playing 1280 it is 20-70 fps. never tried out my old 6600GT. and on my 7200Gp notebook it ran for 10 minutes and the game closed. fps was good, but the amd processor less. but at that notebook i can run cod2. strange

i asked him, but he doesn't know something about pc"s.
i guess medium low settings and no AA

i know that a 7300GT performce like an old 6600GT. if you want to play newer games, you have to search further. and i'm not speaking of a 8600GT.
but to anwser your question, an 7300GT is way better than GS. but why don't you put a 512 mb ramstick into it? and have you agp?

Those of 2 are could say as gaming card, if you stick to these 2 cards, Sapphire HD2400Pro AGP8X would be better for HD movie. There is no AGP interface for Nvidia graphic card after 7XXX series so no 8400GS AGP is available. If you can pay USD$ 25 more, let's buy Sapphire HD2600Pro AGP8X 512MB DDR2 or if you can pay USD$50 more let's buy Sapphire HD2600XT AGP8X 256MB DDR3 for better performance. Geforce 7300GT with similar price range as HD2400 Pro but poorer than HD2400 Pro.
