So now that NVIDIA has rebranded 8 to 9 series cards are they just hoping the 8 series will go away? What is up with no new drivers for the 8 series in almost 4 months?
What OS you use?
Vista x64, but there has been no new release on any OS since December.
Try these yet? I said the same a few days ago, Im on xp32, but heres some 174.74 for 8 series for Vista 64 hope they work http://downloads.guru3d.com/ForceW [...] -1888.html Make sure you go to the second mirror
you can get those @ nvidia's site.... http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_174.74.html
Wasnt sure. I couldnt get my betas from there for my 8800 with 174.74
Ok the release notes say one thing about supported cards
| Quote : Table 3.1 Supported NVIDIA Products |
Yet Release Highlights says:
| Quote : Supports GeForce 6, 7, 8, and 9 series GPUs including these newly released GPUs:

I really dislike incomplete info....silly Nvidia needs to proof read this stuff
I have an 8800GT and the 174.74 betas gave me a blue screen upon reboot.... I am sticking with the 169.21 as they give me no issues...just a heads up.. nothing above the ones I have installed seem to work for me.. odd but true
Did you go to this link and download on the second mirror these? http://downloads.guru3d.com/ForceW [...] -1890.html
Sad that we have to resort to using beta drivers in my opinion.
Thats true. But the 174.74s Im using really rock, and thats on an old GTS320 too.
Im so confused. I went to www.nvidia.com, went to the download section, chose my GPU and OS (8800GTS 512 and z64 Vista) then downloaded the WHQL certified 174.74 drivers...NOT beta.
I think you guys are missing something.
I just tried the same thing and 169.25 came up... You sure you chose it right?
Have any of you checked my links? And make sure you use the second mirror
What the heck, right you are. I coulda sworn that had WHQL'd those drivers. Wow.
Then I stand corrected I guess. I must have pulled them from the Beta section.
The Beta 174.74 drivers do work well for me though. =)
I agree that NVIDIA has left us with 169.21
I would like a new driver too, 174 series are more for 9xxx series and like some said, the notes specifically say 9600gt, 9800gx2 etc nothing from 8xxx

^^^ Theyre not WHQL but they work for the 8xxx series
I had gotten them from the beta section on NVidia's website after installing fine, I restart and got a blue screen and the culprit was awvid5 a file name I have never seen b4
Theres two sets of betas, the one is/was for the 9xxx series, the other, which can only be gotten thru my link afik. is for the 8xxx series, and they work beautifully
When I went to the nVidia site all I saw was 9xxx series, both WHQL and beta. The newest lited was the 169.xx . Someone pointed me to G3D, and lo and behold, there they were. Im thinking nVidia let these out, then retracted them for their 9xxx series launches, as they offer better fps and to me , a little better IQ as well
I forgot to mention, I am on xp 32 bit atm haven't braved vista 64.. my tv tuner card is not supported and neither are my webcam, scanner, and my dazzle.. wish they were
The first link were for the Vista 64s, the seconds for the 32xps for the 8series.
just installed need to reboot.. I will let you know how it went...
Edit: same thing it's a no go... don't know why.. oh well.. COD 4 give me 80-90 FPS at 1680X1050 maxed out anyway so I'm content....for now... then again, I overclocked the heck outta this card...
I think youll like em, too bad nVidia didnt release these earlier
The only problem Ive had withem is when I went to use my GPUZ version 1.8, got a freezeup, havnt downloaded the newer 1.9s, so not sure if that was the issue or not
