I'm ready to order this Gigabyte board, but I really don't know what memory I should get for it. I will be buying a 2x2 kit for now. It's being paired with a Q6600.

Get the ReaperX HPC series, I gots 2x 2GB running at 900Mhz at 4-4-3-10 timings and still cool to touch! ;)

Get Crucial Ballistix Tracers, they are very compatible. They work on my GA-P35-DS3L, I'd be shocked if they didn't work with your GA-EX38-DS4.

sorry for adding my Q here, but would OCZ reaper hpc 1150MHZ work on this board with 4 sticks of 1Gb installed?

Has anyone used this board with the Reaper series memory and a Cooler Master RR-CCH-LB12-GP for the heatsink. I think the Reaper memory would be a good choice, but I'm kind of wondering about clearance issues. The board has some high heatsinks on right around the CPU socket.
