I am looking at buying a 24" monitor for a new pc gaming system I am building and wanted to see if anyone had some advice on this. A couple of monitors I have looked at are below, but if anyone has one the recommend over these let me know.

Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP : Have read comments about a red tint issue thou so not sure if this was a bad batch or a common problem.

Samsung SyncMaster 2693HM

I am also unsure of whether to go SLI or not? I have read some reviews and since this is mainly a gaming system and I will be running at 1920 x 1200 resolution it seems that going with 2 8800 GT would be better then spending more for a single 8800 GTX. I would appreciate anyones comments on this.

If I do go SLI, I would go with the 780i chipset. If not, then I was going to go with the P35.

Processor will be E8400
OS will be Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium.
Power Supply : PCP&S Silencer 750W

If you can find one, id recommend this one, cost me 390$ CND. I'm using the E8400, 8gb ram, 8800GTX and Vista64 Ultimate with it. I've heard that SLI is pretty good for that res but the GTX is doing a great job and i prefer my X38 motherboard.

I would strongly recommend either a Samsung 245bw (if you are on a budget) or else the Samsung 245T.

But the Samsung you have chosen is good as well.
I personally own the 245bw, and the only drawback is the severely limited viewing angles (the 2693HM also suffers from this, but NOT the 245T). Otherwise, it is a fabulous monitor.

Well for a 24" monitor the first thing you need to establish is your budget because there are 2 types of panels in 24", TN panel and M-PVA (also S-PVA). Main difference is image quality because TN panels are 6 bit, which mean they only display 242,000 colors and they can go to 16,2 millions with a technique called dithering. If you don't know what dithering is look it up with google but basically it is a technique also used in printing that consists of using the surrounding pixels to create the illusion of millions of colors. M-PVA panels are 8 bit, or 16,7 millions true colors, no dithering. If you watch movies or do some photo editing on you pc then M-PVA panels are the way to go. To some extent even games get a benefit from those panels.

TN panel are cheap, usually between $350 and $450 and M-PVA panels are more expensive between $550 and $700.

I personally had 3 LCD's with TN panels before I got a LCD with a M-PVA (Benq fp241vw) panel and to me the difference was amazing, with both games and movies.

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ is a great place to find info on the monitors you are considering.

As for SLI or not well I have a 8800gt and except for Crysis I run all my games (COD4, HL2, R6Vegas, Bioshock, Stalket, Oblivion) at full res and all settings on high and I get very good fps, average between 45 and 60 mesured with fraps. BTW I always run games with v-sync on so no more of that terrible tearing effect!

Thanks for the input. I am willing to spend up to $700. This will be mainly used for gaming also, which I have read that the Dell has a very bad input lag so not great for online gaming.

I have better luck with Nvidia so prefer to stick with it.

Does anyone have the Doublesight DS-263N monitor? It sounds like it is a great gaming monitor.
