So I got my X-Fi ExtremeGamer Fatal1ty in the other day from Newegg, and installed it.  I start the computer up and boot into Windows (I use Vista-64bit SP1) and it goes through the "let-me-search-for-a-driver-for-you" crap, and about a minute later after windows tries to install the device for me, get the big ol' blue screen of death.

I'm not overclocked or anything, and my computer ran just fine before the card was installed.  Do you think its a problem with the card, or what?  I'm gettin sick of Creative!!

Well that's the problem... i cant even START to install my own drivers before windows autodetects the card and starts its installation crap.  there's no way to cancel it either in Vista 64bit.  I'm lost.  Can anyone show me how to install the drivers into windows without the sound card physically being installed, so that when I do put it in, it has no problems finding the drivers right away?

Im not sure cause i havent tried it... but Safe Mode should be able to uninstall drivers and install any if required. F8 before the load screen comes up will give you the selection menu

First take the card out of your pc.
Then walk into your kitchen.
open your trash bin and insert card.
next, reboot computer and everything should be ok!...
Hope this helps!
