The digitizer is starting to go on my m500 -- seems that I'm having to
re-align it about once a week now. So, I'm considering replacing it with
a T/E, due to my employer's restrictions on items having cameras or
microphones built into them.
If I were to get a T/E, would any of the apps that I have for the m500
work,
or would they need to be replaced, due to changes in the processor?
Likewise,
would I need to change the Palm Desktop software, even though I have the
4.1
version already installed?

AFAIK they all have to be swapped - the install instructions for the TE
explain the rules (i ignored this and had to wipe the TE and start again -
too much exposure to old Palm IIIs and Vs).

i would upgrade if the new one is higher version - but it is possible to
maintain the old address records etc.

I went from an m500 to a TE. Most of the programs worked fine. Don't
remember specifically what didn't. I use Palm Desktop 4.1 (for the
Mac) with the TE.
