Dxdiag says I have 1278 video memory?!?

I was playing around in a game yesterday testing things out, trying to resolve the dreaded audigy 2 + vista issues when I noticed that my stated video was 1278 megs and my system memory was 512???????

So I launced Dxdiag today and received the same results in there?

Is Vista somehow reporting this incorrectly or possibly the drivers me be flaky? It IS a nvidia card afterall.

8800gts (512-g92) running vista ultimate sp1.

Cant rember the specifics but its to do with vista an dthe way it reports memory.

Vista allocates the memory differently than XP.
It gives more RAM to the GPU, but I think if the sytem needs that RAM back it can give it back.
I asked about this one time because it happened to me too.

I have 3GB system memory w/8800GT 512mb
Total available video memory 1791mb
That's Vista
