Here are a couple reviews with the two going against each other. Both reviews use dual cores (E6600 and E8200) so your results with a quad might be slightly different. Also a lot depends on the fan you decide to use but the two look fairly even.

In this one the Thermalright has a slight edge in temp

Pretty sure a lapped true is the best cooler still available. Not to mention they now make a 100% copper one. :bounce:

Keeps my E3110 @ 4.23 ghz below 60C on full load. Nuf said.

Sorry I am not familiar with lapped coolers. Those two are the only ones available to me besides an OCZ Vanquisher and a Thermalright Ultima 90I

I think I'd like to go with the Vendetta 2 as it is 2 mm shorter and does not need a backplate.

Lapping is sanding and polishing the mating surfaces to get them to as close as a perfectly flat as possible. I have a lapped TRUE using a Scythe S-Flex 120mm fan and the performance is great. As you can see from the reviews I posted above, the performance between the two is fairly close. Keep in mind the TRUE is very tall and some cases might have an issue of clearance with the side panel.

Just changed my mind. If you think of getting the Vendetta 2, think again. Take a look: http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/08/ocz-vendetta-2/12.jpg
See how the board is bent due to excessive pressure needed to install it? Its 750gms and uses normal pin system without a back plate!

Youre going to get that with any modern tower cooler basically, but that is a bit much. Also keep in mind that the TRUE is sorta known to REQUIRE lapping to be fully effective.

Also the Copper TRUE is worthless. Just check the review on Frostytech.
