After I replaced my video card with an old one because my display was malfunctioning yesterday, a new problem arose. My internet was not connecting. It still isn't. It shows the little red X over the LAN connection, and says A network cable is unplugged. I have an ethernet cord going from the back of my computer and into the router in the other room that I'm typing in right now. I've had it like this now for a while. No cables are unplugged, and when I try to create a new connection, it says some of my network hardware is not "plugged in". When I check in Device Manager it says my LAN card (Intel PRO100/VE) is working fine, and I've rechecked the ethernet cable many times. I don't know what's wrong. I believe the network card is onboard.
P.S. Before I replaced the video card, the internet was working fine, it was the video card that wasn't. Now, it's the exact opposite.
Yeah, still failing it up. I reverted to wireless which is unfortunate because it has absolutely terrible stability. The reason I switched in the first place is because every time I'd login to the world...of warcraft...I'd disconnect and have to go reset my router. The switch to a wired connection to my router fixed all the problems, and now they've returned. If only my idiotic machine would pick up my hardwired connection.
Edit: Ok here's the problem: My machine is no longer picking up my LAN adapter which is integrated into my MOBO. Before my video card failed me it was working fine, and after, nothing.
