(Updated) New Workstation to run Solid Works

I'm building a new workstation computer to run Solid Works. The budget is right at $1000. I will need a monitor as well with the build. Any good ideas? I'm looking to run XP64, Probably 4gigs of ram, I haven't decided on AMD or Intel. Over-clocking will not be necessary.

You're really going to be even close to a good system for that money. Take a look at the Solidworks site and then start plugging in hardware for your OS. There are also users forums available to give you a better idea of what hardware works best.

The video cards certified for SolidWorks are expensive. I think a Q6600 with 2-4GB of memory would be good, if you can fit that into your budget.

I recommend:

P35-DS3R/DS3L
4GB DDR2 800 by Corsair, Crucial, or any other high quality manufacture
Note: The P35- DS3x and DS4x boards seems to have problems with RAM natively higher than DDR2 800, but you can still OC DDR2 800 to the same level
Q6600/9300
9600GT
Corsair 450VX/550VX
320GB+ STA2
Any case, DVD RW, you like.

This should be about $800.
